Voge 300 Rally problems: what owners report, and what is known about each

Every 300 Rally (300GY, Valico 300 Rally) fault and complaint we have found in owner reports: bearings and side stand, jumping out of gear, vibration, harsh brakes, short gearing, the radiator and slow parts supply.

3 min readStatus: Reported

These are owner reports, not faults confirmed by Voge. The 300 Rally is also sold as the 300GY Rally and, in Italy, as the Valico 300 Rally; reports under all three names are included. The table says how often each problem appears in the sources we have read.

At a glance

Problem How often reported What is known
Wheel and swingarm bearings, bent side stand Several owners Checks take a minute; see the detailed page
Jumps out of gear, imprecise shift Several owners Clutch and chain adjustment come before the gearbox
Seat height Common 915 mm by design; lowering options exist
Vibration, mostly above 100 km/h Two owners Characteristic of the single cylinder
Harsh, wooden front brake One owner, plus a low brake score Semi-sintered pads improved it
Very short gearing One owner Characteristic; the dealer advised staying under 5,000 rpm when new
Right radiator fault One owner, about 3,500 km Owner replaced it himself
Slow parts and after-sales Several owners Regulator wait of nearly two months in Spain

Bearings, gearbox and seat height

The three most reported problems each have their own page with the checks and figures from the manual:

Vibration and gearing

Two owners mention vibration, one specifically above 100 km/h. A 292 cc single produces more vibration than a twin, and it is most noticeable at sustained motorway speeds, which is not what the 300 Rally is geared for. A new owner in Spain found the gearing very short, already looking for sixth at 60 km/h, and was told by his workshop to stay under 5,000 rpm during running in. Neither is a fault, but both are worth a test ride for anyone who expects long motorway stretches.

Brakes

One owner described the front brake as harsh and wooden from new. At the first service the dealer fitted semi-sintered pads for about 30 euro, after which he reported the bike stopping well with one finger. A second owner rated the brakes 6 out of 10 without giving a reason. Pad wear and replacement are covered in Voge brake pads.

Radiator, parts and after-sales

  • Radiator. One owner had a fault in the right radiator at about 3,500 km that the dealer could not fix, and fitted a replacement bought online at his own cost.
  • Parts supply. In Spain, an owner waited nearly two months for a voltage regulator under warranty and in the end bought the part himself. Forum replies blamed the small number of dedicated Voge dealers. In Italy, one owner's dealer had no oil filter in stock for the first service.

Before a long trip, it is worth knowing where the nearest Voge dealer is and keeping an oil filter and brake pads on the shelf.

Fluids, tyre pressures and other figures for this motorcycle are on the 300 Rally page, with its manuals on the 300 Rally documents page.
